If at all possible, avoid mowing lawns in the hottest part of the day. This picture is a perfect example of the damage a mower can cause to heat or drought stressed turf.

It looks bad, but the turf will recover and grow out of the damage after a few weeks of cooler temperatures and water. With irrigation or a forecast for substantial rain, an application of our 9-12-6 organic blend starter fertilizer will help speed up recovery.

Always use good mowing practices. Look for signs of stress before mowing. Is the turf wilting? Does it have a dark bluish cast? Do you see footprinting in the turf? If the turf is under stress, avoid mowing during the hottest time of the day.
