Don’t use coffee cans as base anchors. Round anchors have a better likelihood of spinning while in the ground. Instead, you can easily construct your own square ones. Here is a simple step-by-step method for building a set of base anchors.
Tools Needed:
- Base anchors
- Duct tape
- Screws
- Drill
- Tape measure
- Circular saw
- Scrap lumber- 2×4
- Shovel
- QUICKRETE
- Wheelbarrow
Step 1:
Cut the scrap lumber into 8 to 12-inch pieces and build a simple square. Keep in mind this is not cabinet-grade carpentry.
Step 2:
Tape the bottom of the anchors while mixing the QUICKRETE. Place an anchor in each form using a scrap piece of plywood as a base.
Step 3:
After the QUICKRETE cures (no more than 4 hours), remove the forms. Now, you have a new set of base anchors.
