Last Monday, the Indiana Chapter of GCSAA had their annual Turf Fundraiser at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, IN. The Turf Fundraiser is a great event raising money for turf research through the Midwest Regional Turf Foundation.

Advanced Turf was proud to sponsor five of the participating teams for this year’s event and we plan to sponsor many more teams at superintendent events throughout the season. As a company, we participate in at least twelve local chapters of the GCSSA and will attend and/or sponsor at least one of their fundraising events each year.

Sagamore’s superintendent Gary Myers had the golf course in spectacular shape (to learn more about Gary’s work on the course take a look at his great blog http://sagamoreturfgrass.blogspot.com/). This year there were twenty-eight teams that participated in the event (a significant increase over previous years). As always, it was a very enjoyable afternoon and a great way to raise funds for turf research.

A personal highlight of the event was one of my great shots of the day. This was a wild duck hook that ended up in Stuart Cagle’s back pocket (OUCH!). Many of my close friends commented on that great shot especially since Dan Gamble was on the tee at the time and proceeded to tell all 28 teams of my prowess. I hope (and I’m sure Stuart does to) the next event we attend doesn’t have quite so many personal highlights.

Here’s to a great 2012 season!
