Getting your lawn ready for winter is very important to ensure it has a healthy start in the spring.  By applying a high nitrogen fertilizer in November, your lawn will experience earlier green-up and good root development.  Be sure to remove or finely mulch leaves to allow sunlight to get to the turf.  The mowing height should be a little shorter on the last two cuttings of the season to help prevent the grass from lying down during periods of heavy snow or ice, thus preventing snow mold development.  I always say that Thanksgiving Day is a great time to work your lawn… before a big meal to build up an appetite or after to work off that extra piece of pie!

Happy Thanksgiving!
